Sin embargo, como el litio no es un metal abundante, resulta caro. El sodio, en cambio, es abundante y barato, y el inter\u00e9s por las bater\u00edas de iones de sodio (SIB) no deja de crecer.<\/p><p>Entre los materiales que se han investigado para su uso como electrodos negativos de SIB figuran el carbono duro y el esta\u00f1o. El carbono duro puede someterse a m\u00e1s de 100 ciclos, pero s\u00f3lo tiene una capacidad de unos 250 mAh\/g. Las pilas de sodio con electrodos de carbono duro son m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as que las pilas de litio equivalentes. Por otro lado, el esta\u00f1o tiene una capacidad de alrededor de 500 mAh\/g, pero sufre de un pobre rendimiento c\u00edclico (s\u00f3lo unos pocos ciclos) y de la contracci\u00f3n del volumen del electrodo de esta\u00f1o (aproximadamente 5,3 veces mayor que el de carbono duro) debido a la alta expansi\u00f3n, acompa\u00f1ada de la incrustaci\u00f3n (aleaci\u00f3n) y extracci\u00f3n (desaleaci\u00f3n) de iones de Na. estos procesos de aleaci\u00f3n\/desaleaci\u00f3n del Sn con Na son similares a los procesos de aleaci\u00f3n\/desaleaci\u00f3n del Sn con Li. Por lo tanto, un factor clave es la inhibici\u00f3n de los cambios de volumen durante el ciclado por parte del electrodo basado en esta\u00f1o. Como se muestra en la Figura 6 del art\u00edculo original, el rendimiento c\u00edclico de los electrodos de esta\u00f1o para SIBs puede mejorarse mediante el uso de aglutinantes de \u00e1cido poliacr\u00edlico (PAA). En este estudio, la capacidad del electrodo de Sn se mantuvo en torno a los 500 mAh\/g tras 20 ciclos. El aglutinante es, por tanto, uno de los materiales componentes m\u00e1s importantes del electrodo.<\/p><p>Sony Corporation comercializ\u00f3 por primera vez las BIB que utilizan \u00e1nodos de Sn-Co. Los \u00e1nodos de Sn-Co presentan un buen rendimiento de ciclado porque el cobalto no se alea con el litio y el cobalto amortigua el cambio de volumen del electrodo durante el ciclado. En este art\u00edculo se eval\u00faan las propiedades de los electrodos de Sn-Co utilizados electroqu\u00edmicamente para los SIB con el fin de revelar la correlaci\u00f3n entre el rendimiento de ciclado y el aglutinante.<\/p><p>Se prepararon electrodos de Sn-Co utilizando fluoruro de polivinilideno (PVdF) o PAA como aglutinante. Las propiedades electroqu\u00edmicas de los electrodos de Sn-Co con aglutinante PAA se examinaron realizando experimentos de descarga-carga con corriente constante y los resultados se compararon con los obtenidos utilizando PVdF como aglutinante. Adem\u00e1s, por primera vez, se evaluaron mediante microscop\u00eda \u00f3ptica in situ los cambios de volumen de los electrodos de Sn-Co con PAA o PVdF durante la inserci\u00f3n (aleaci\u00f3n)\/extracci\u00f3n (desaleaci\u00f3n) de iones Na. Los cambios en la estructura cristalina del Sn-Co durante el ciclado se caracterizaron mediante difracci\u00f3n de rayos X (DRX) y los cambios morfol\u00f3gicos durante el ciclado se analizaron mediante microscop\u00eda electr\u00f3nica de barrido (MEB) y microscop\u00eda \u00f3ptica.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h4>Aplicaciones<\/h4><p>Este art\u00edculo se centra en el rendimiento electroqu\u00edmico del Sn-Co para mostrar la correlaci\u00f3n entre el rendimiento c\u00edclico y el aglutinante del material componente del electrodo. En comparaci\u00f3n con el fluoruro de polivinilideno (PVdF), los electrodos de Sn-Co fabricados con \u00e1cido poliacr\u00edlico (PAA) presentan un mejor rendimiento c\u00edclico (~300 mAh\/g durante 30 ciclos). Esta mejor caracter\u00edstica de ciclado del PAA se debe al ligero cambio en el volumen del electrodo durante el ciclado, tal y como revela la microscop\u00eda \u00f3ptica in situ. La celda circular utilizada para la microscop\u00eda \u00f3ptica in situ era un septo de polipropileno empapado y apilado (19 mm de di\u00e1metro) que constaba de un contraelectrodo de l\u00e1mina de sodio (0,2 mm de espesor y 15 mm de di\u00e1metro), una soluci\u00f3n electrol\u00edtica (1 mol\/l NaPF6 EC:DEC 1:1 en volumen) y un electrodo de trabajo de Sn-Co (0,02 mm de espesor y 14 mm de di\u00e1metro). . La c\u00e9lula circular se cort\u00f3 en un semic\u00edrculo con la secci\u00f3n transversal de Na\/separador (NaPF6 EC:DEC 1:1 en volumen)\/Sn-Co expuesta.
