El concepto de materiales con permitividad y permeabilidad negativas fue introducido por primera vez por el cient\u00edfico sovi\u00e9tico Veselago en 1968 y se predijo que con estos materiales se podr\u00eda conseguir una refracci\u00f3n negativa y efectos Doppler inversos. Dado que la relaci\u00f3n entre el campo el\u00e9ctrico E, el campo magn\u00e9tico H y el vector de onda k ya no se ajusta a la regla de la espiral derecha cuando la constante diel\u00e9ctrica y la permeabilidad son negativas, sino a la regla de la izquierda, estos materiales tambi\u00e9n se conocen como \"materiales zurdos\", pero estas caracter\u00edsticas no existen en los materiales naturales. Se considera una de las 10 tecnolog\u00edas emergentes m\u00e1s importantes de 2019. Cuando el \u00edndice de refracci\u00f3n es positivo, las lentes convencionales son incapaces de enfocar la luz con precisi\u00f3n en \u00e1reas de longitudes de onda inferiores al cuadrado debido a la tasa de decaimiento exponencial de las ondas que se desvanecen. Como descubri\u00f3 Ernst Carl Abbe, las lentes convencionales est\u00e1n limitadas por el l\u00edmite de difracci\u00f3n; sin embargo, las superlentes (o superlentes) utilizan metamateriales para superar el l\u00edmite de difracci\u00f3n obteniendo un \u00edndice de refracci\u00f3n de -1. La luz que entra en una superlente forma un \u00e1ngulo negativo o \u00edndice de refracci\u00f3n negativo, como se muestra en la figura 3, tiene una normal de superficie y experimenta un doble efecto de enfoque. Para obtener una superlente, el metamaterial debe tener tanto una constante diel\u00e9ctrica negativa como una permeabilidad negativa para convertir la informaci\u00f3n sobre el objeto de sub-longitud de onda y reproducir la imagen sin distorsi\u00f3n ni p\u00e9rdida de informaci\u00f3n.
